Who doesn’t love watching golf being played at Pebble Beach? One of the most iconic golf courses in the world, Pebble Beach is situated centrally along the California coast just south of San Jose. The course is just as challenging as it is scenic, and players regularly have to battle strong winds blowing in from the ocean.

That being said, Collin Morikawa claimed the trophy by reaching the dizzying heights of 22-under with such performances that included a 10-under-par card of 62 on the Saturday. This particular feat propelled him into second place alongside Sepp Straka as they chased the overnight leader Akshay Bhatia who was clear by 2 strokes heading into the final round.

Bhatia fell behind having made two bogeys on his front 9 while Australia’s Min Woo Lee surged ahead by making two birdies on his last two holes. Lee and Morikawa were tied on 22-under as the latter made his way down the 18th hole, needing a birdie for victory.

Morikawa struck a tremendous approach shot that came to rest just right of the green and expertly judged the slope towards the hole to close out with a stellar birdie. It was the first time since 2023 that the 2-time major winner won on the PGA tour, and he currently stands in 5th place in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Reflecting on his stunning win, Morikawa admitted that he felt anything can happen if you keep a positive mindset. “It’s special for a lot of reasons. I kept believing in myself. Honestly, at the beginning of this week it didn’t really feel like this was going to be possible. I kept believing in myself. Honestly, at the beginning of this week it didn’t really feel like this was going to be possible.”

Rory McIlroy was the defending champion having finished 2 strokes ahead of Shane Lowry at the 2025 tournament. He finished on a good note having carded an 8-under round on the Sunday, and finishing on T14 alongside Matt Fitzpatrick. He was optimistic about his game going into the season “All in all, some really good stuff this week. Pretty encouraged going into next week for sure.”
